Cigar Travel Essentials - Travel Blog

We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to travel frequently, both across the United States and internationally. Given our line of work, cigars are a constant presence in our lives—whether we’re buying, selling, or simply smoking them. This passion for cigars means there are certain essentials we simply can’t travel without.

When it comes to transporting high-end cigars, maintaining their pristine condition is paramount. We understand that even minor fluctuations in temperature or humidity can affect their quality. Therefore, we make it a priority to pack our cigars with care, using specialized travel humidors that ensure they stay fresh, no matter where our journeys take us.

Additionally, our active engagement with social media and the online aspects of our business means we always travel equipped with tools that help us connect with our audience. Each item we bring along is carefully chosen to enhance our travel experience while staying true to our passion for cigars.

Whether we’re exploring new cigar lounges, attending trade shows, or simply enjoying a quiet evening with a fine cigar, these essentials ensure that we’re always ready to share our journey with fellow enthusiasts and continue building our community.

While we recognize that topics like Louis Vuitton wallets, Omega watches, and American Express Platinum cards may not pique your interest, we’ll spare you the details. Similarly, we believe the iPhone merits its own dedicated discussion, so we won’t delve into that here either. Instead, let’s cut straight to the chase. Here are the five essential items we never travel without when it comes to enjoying cigars:

  1. Bose Quiet Comfort Headphones ($250)

These headphones offer exceptional noise cancellation and outstanding sound quality, making them a must-have for anyone looking to travel comfortable. Whether we’re unwinding at a lounge or enjoying some downtime by the hotel pool with a cigar, we always reach for these headphones. They allow us to immerse ourselves in our music without disturbing those around us, which is essential for a peaceful experience.

On the comfort feature, even after an 18-hour flight, we feel no discomfort or strain from wearing them non-stop. The design ensures a snug fit, allowing us to wear them for extended periods without any issues. Plus, the battery life is nothing short of impressive, easily lasting through long journeys and providing uninterrupted listening pleasure. Overall, these headphones have become an indispensable part of our travel gear, enhancing every experience. I can't imagine flying without them. Ever.

  1. HP Spectre X360 ($2,500)

We can already anticipate the comments from Mac users, but as someone who has also owned a Mac, we believe the HP Spectre is superior. As we mentioned earlier, we often work while traveling. While our iPhone 15 pro can handle about 85% of what the HP can do (that’s a rough estimate), the remaining 15% is essential for our operations—specifically, marketing. Unfortunately, Wix, the platform for our website, doesn’t allow us to create email marketing campaigns on the iPhone. Without the ability to send marketing emails, we can't inform you about new arrivals or special offers.

Additionally, the HP Spectre's 360-degree design and touchscreen functionality make it a versatile device that can double as a TV and tablet—perfect for entertainment on the go. It also makes it easier to find cigar lounges and stores on Google and Yelp than in the iPhone.

  1. Brizard & Co Straight Cutter ($100) (https://brizardandco.com/)

First and foremost, we want to clarify that we are in no way associated with the company and received no compensation for this review. This is 100% our honest opinion and purchased the product ourselves.

For the price, you won’t find a better cutter. Not from S.T. Dupont, Xikar, or Elie Bleu. The quality of this cutter rivals that of the $400 French-made S.T. Dupont models. Personally, I find the one with the wooden trim to be the most enjoyable. As someone who appreciates craftsmanship, I find it extremely satisfying to see perfection in the use of wood. It also comes with a great leather case that ensures it won’t open while in my luggage or backpack. We will most likely be a long term customer.

  1. Elephant Elite ELCIG-10 Travel Cigar Case ($45)

Again, we are in no way associated with the company and received no compensation for this review. This is 100% our honest opinion and purchased the product ourselves and paid full price.

The Elephant Elite ELCIG-10 Travel Cigar Case is a stylish and practical solution for cigar enthusiasts on the go, typically designed to hold around 10 cigars. Made from durable materials, it combines elegance with functionality. The case usually includes humidity control features, such as built-in humidifiers, to maintain optimal conditions for your cigars. Its compact and lightweight design makes it easy to carry, while the soft interior lining protects your cigars from damage, ensuring they stay fresh and intact during travel.

There are many cases out there but we find that this one makes its own statement. It is a little bit bigger than many but provides extra protection in return. We feel comfortable putting $100 cigars in it and sending them in our check-in luggage. I do wish it came with a leather case to put it. Something to give it a luxury feel.

  1. Zippo Custom Lighter ($30) - Double Torch Insert ($15)

This may stir up some controversy, but we understand the reactions it might provoke. You might be wondering, “How can a company that owns luxury lighters like S.T. Dupont Legrand, Cartier, and Elie Bleu have such an affinity for Zippo?” The answer is simple.

First, Zippo is made in the USA, and as proud patriots, that matters to us. Second, our logo. Many of you have noticed that we frequently incorporate it into our posts and videos. This branding helps us create recognizable content that can be shared widely.

Our Zippo features a double torch insert, and you can also opt for a single torch or a butane soft flame insert. The double torch provides enough flame for two cigars, making it a practical choice for us.

Believe it or not, this lighter has helped protect countless people from online scams. That’s one reason we don’t sell it. Our images in social media are liked and shared by thousands, but unfortunately, they’ve also been used by scammers to deceive others into buying cigars they don't own. On average, we receive one message per week from someone who realizes a fake profile is scamming people, often identifying it through our lighter in the photos.

By now it is a great branding tool and part of who we are. Love you Zippo!
